Character Information:

Character Name: Asuka Langley Sorhyu
Age: 14
Canon: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Appearance: Asuka is a tiny, skinny little snip of a teenage girl, although she'll tell you that her feminine figure is incredibly womanly for her years. What Asuka thinks and what she actually is are two different things. She does, however, have a pretty decent pair of breasts for a teenage girl, but she's jailbait and this is anime and I feel really dirty just writing that sentence.

Her hair, to match her temperment, is fiery red and her eyes are dark blue. She always has a cocky, arrogant look on her face that makes you think she's always thinking of how much she's better than you.

Spoiler: She usually is.

Personality: Asuka has a fiery, aggressive temper and that's probably the first thing anyone will notice about her. She's quick to anger, quick to insult, and quick to judge, especially if she thinks people are going to take attention away from her. While acting like an immature spoiled brat, she maintains that she's more mature than the people around her and prefers the company of adults to children her own age, although when forced to hang around "children," she will assert herself as the dominant force and boss everyone else around, even when it's clear that she's not the most competent one in the group. While intelligent, her extreme pride makes her incompetent, as she's more likely to barge headlong into something on her own, than accept help or valuable advice from other people.

She has an overwhelming need to be praised and even more overwhelming need to be the best at everything she does. She feels completely at a loss when she's not and dissolves into sulking, often taking on a "I may as well not even try, because I know I'll just be second-best" attitude when she can't beat someone. She can't handle not having the spotlight on her and acts as if she'd fade away if it's not and becomes extremely jealous of people who take attention away from her, acting bitter and spiteful towards them. This is based on the fact that she's psychologically scarred from her mother ignoring her in favor of a doll after her psychotic break when Asuka was a young child. While her pathological need for attention is psychologically driven, she would never admit this to anyone.

She likes to believe herself to be self-sufficient and capable and becomes depressed to the point of practically driving herself into a coma when she believes herself to be incapable of piloting her Evangelion. When her sync ratio is affected after being mind-raped by an angel, she sees it as fundamental proof that she'll be tossed aside and ignored because she's no longer capable of doing the one thing that earns her attention and praise- she seeks her own value in the attention of others and without that attention, she clearly has no value. She's not motivated to pilot her Eva because it's the right thing to do- she's motivated, because it allows her to bask in attention and when Shinji proves himself to be a better pilot than her, she starts to break little by little. The angel was really the final nail in the coffin that had been a long time coming.

Her attitude is a front for her insecurities and vulnerabilities- she has a wall around her heart and she refuses to get close to people and let them see what a little girl she really is. She wants to be taken seriously as an adult and, honestly, tried to override most of her childhood, because of having to be a strong girl to hide how much she was broken by her mother's suicide (which she discovered). Because of forcing herself to grow up too fast, she can be seen as even more emotionally immature, because she lacks certain social skills- like tact or understanding how friendships, even going as far as to suggest to Rei that they should become "best friends, because it would be conveinent." While she can behave normally at school, around people who don't know her or what she does, and even has friends, putting her in her element allows her to be the bitch she really is.

She's a hypocrite- constantly belittling people for their own flaws and ignoring her own, even going as far as to tell Shinji that he needs to find his own happiness instead of waiting for someone to give it to him, even though that's precisely what she does. Ultimately, she doesn't want to be alone, even though she pushes people away and refuses to let them get close to her.

If you are apping a character arriving from another game: N/A

Background: LINK.

Asuka will be coming in right after she defeats the Eva series in End of Evangelion, before they revive and subsequently kill her.
Special Abilities or Weapons: Asuka is a child prodigy, having been said to have gotten a university degree at the age of fourteen. She's fluent in her native German and English, as well as Japanese (although she has difficulty writing in Kanji). She has military training and is capable of carrying out advanced tactical maneuvers in an Evangelion- however, due to her intelligence and the fact that an Evangelion is likely more complicated than a starfighter, she could probably easily transfer her skills to one, provided she got over all initial hang-ups about starfighters being inferior to her Eva. It's likely that same stubbornness will transfer to her screwing up often in training and then blaming it on her being used to far more advanced weaponry. Have fun with that.

Sect: Military

Job: Fighter pilot

First Person:
[MEET ASUKA. SHE IS VERY SHRILL. AGAIN.]

YOU PERVERTS AGAIN?? I thought I got rid of you all. You could have at least left some of my clothes- and these aren't the roommates I had before. Where's Cordelia? At least she had a little bit of sense.

Ugh. Mein Gott. Why can't you people leave me alone?

Third Person:
Asuka crossed her arms stubbornly over her chest as she entered the hanger, her face twisted into a pout that became a frustrated scowl the further she got in. The starfighters weren't so bad- they certainly weren't common military jets, but she wanted her Evangelion and no amount of screaming about it had gotten anyone to understand the importance of this simple fact. After years of thinking her mother had abandoned her, she'd found her again in the heart of her Eva and to be cruelly stolen from her again made her want to scream and throw a fit. Unfortunately, these people were less inclined to listen to her hissy fits than NERV, and NERV hadn't really put up with them either.

She ran her hand over the smooth metal of the nearest starfighter, frowning at it. "You're too easy," she muttered to it. "You're the real toys here." She'd hate to ever have to think Wonder Girl was right about anything, but she had pegged the Evangelions perfectly. If there was anything Asuka appreciated about being stuck here, it was that she wouldn't have to taint her victory over the Eva series by admitting that to Rei. Even if she kept it a secret, knowing Wonder Girl, she'd know.

She paced around the starfighter, still studying it. It was pretty and it was probably a little bit complicated, being from this weird alternate universe and all. Not her Evangelion- it would never be that- and she wasn't one to even try to make the most of situations that rankle her, but what she was the sort who made sure she was the best at everything she did.

And she had to do this? Well, fine. She'd do it. And be better than everyone at it.

"But you'll do."

Anything Else: Nope. Gonna go share my blue milk with Jolee Bindo
